Pistachios

Pistachios not provide the same benefits directly lung cleaning how herbs are. But they are still important for anyone interested in improving their lung health. Studies suggest that pistachios may help prevent lung cancer. They contain a particular type ofvitamin E, known as gamma-tocopherol name may possibly provide protection against some forms of lung cancer. More research to demonstrate conclusively is necessary, but anyway, these delicious nuts also provide a number of advantages .. pistachios are also believed to help lower cholesterol. Raw pistachios are the best option and creates a large, regular snack. It is easy to snack on raw nuts and satisfying experience without empty calories or weight gain that comes with them.

Banana leaf

Bananas are another food that can help clear your lungs. Banana leaf, which is a wrapper popular food in Cuba and other Latin American countries, is not in the mainstream in North America. However, you can find, and I recommend using a banana leaf is like a tasty wrap around a number of foods. A quick search online for "banana leaf recipes" make dishes. As always, avoid recipes that call for sugar or flour treated with locally grown organic vegetables, or hormone-free foods as ingredients.

Cayenne pepper

Eaten as food and used as a spice, these popular peppers can contribute up to 17 health benefits and well-being for the body. They have been known to help suppress the annoying cough and sore throat and help with the management of colds and flu. Cayenne pepper helps break down and move the congested mucus, so it is recommended for those suffering from chest congestion or food respiratory diseases.

A Varied and Well Balanced Healthy Diet

It’s well known fact that having a varied and well-balanced diet is good for us. Eating the right foods is certainly one of the ways to keep yourself in good health.

A varied and well-balanced diet should include all the essential nutrients that our bodies need, to protect us from many of todays diet-related illnesses, such as heart disease and cancers of the digestive system.

Instead of buying those pre-packed or instant meals from the supermarket, which I hasten to add are full of additives and preservatives.

So to avoid the harmful contents of the so-called microwave dinners, make an effort to cook your own meals, this will in turn help you to keep a check on the calorie intake of  you and your family.

Healthy Eating on a Budget

It’s good know that many of the foods that are good for us are the least expensive, such as chicken or white fish and high-fibre foods like cereals, grains, pasta and pulses.

Some of the more expensive foods, we should only consume in small quantities because of their high-fat content and these include such things as creams and many cheeses.

It’s a myth that eating healthy food costs more than the perhaps the more popular pre-packed foods that you find in your local store or supermarket . If you shop sensibly and wisely and purchase foods such as white meat, fresh fruit and vegetables, the cost is far cheaper than buying those quick fix convenience foods.

Can Healthy Eating be Adventurous ?

To get any benefit from food, firstly it must be appealing. Secondly, to eat healthly should be a pleasurable experience, not a punishment and last but not least there’s certainly no reason to give up any personal treats. If want to allow some slack in your diet to have those personal treats, then you must cut out something you can do without more easily.

One of the best ways to eat healthly is to cut out the high energy, low nutrient value substances such as sugar and replace them with foods such as wholewheat bread or fresh salads and I don’t mean just lettuce and tomatoes! There are vast number of raw vegetables that can be used as alternatives to the normal suspects found in salads and are equally as tasty and can be turned into perhaps more adventrous salads.

Here are a few ideas as alternatives for salads, try cabbage, carrots, beetroot, celery, courgettes and mushrooms, lightly seasoned and sprinkled with fresh herbs and a dash of vinaigrette dressing.

Stir fry is another way to cook vegetables if you prefer them hot rather than cold. Cooking vegetables this way means they maintain more of their natural goodness because the process of cooking is quicker.

A word of warning; using too much salt in your diet can often lead to high blood pressure and for some people it goes a little further with the risk of a stroke. My recommendation is to instead use spices, herbs and garnishes.

Ingredients
  • Extra-virgin olive oil, for drizzling
  • 6 slices thick-cut bacon, cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 3 leeks, rinsed well to remove grit and thinly sliced
  • 1 loaf store-bought frozen bread dough, thawed and left to rise according to package instructions
  • 5 small red potatoes, sliced paper thin with a mandoline or sharp knife
  • Kosher salt
  • 1 pound fresh mozzarella, sliced thin
  • 4 ounces goat cheese, crumbled
  • 1/3 cup grated Parmesan
  • Freshly ground black pepper
Directions

Preheat the oven to 475 degrees F. Drizzle a baking sheet with olive oil.

In a skillet, fry the bacon over medium heat until cooked but not crisp; remove and set aside. Pour off most of the grease but do not clean the skillet. Return the skillet to the stove and turn the heat to medium low. Add the leeks and saute until soft, about 3 minutes.

Pull or roll the bread dough into a rectangle and place on the oiled baking sheet. Drizzle the dough with olive oil. Arrange the potatoes in a single layer all over the crust, slightly overlapping the edges. Sprinkle the potatoes lightly with salt, then lay the mozzarella slices in a single layer on top of the potatoes. Arrange the leeks on top of the cheese. Sprinkle the fried bacon pieces over the top, followed by a generous addition of crumbled goat cheese, grated Parmesan and freshly ground black pepper.

Bake until the edges of the crust are golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly, 11 to 13 minutes. Cut into squares and serve immediately.

1. Remember, y'all, it’s all about the prep. Take away the stress by doing the prep the night or day before. You'll look like a star.

Paula Deen

2. The smaller the item, the higher the baking temperature. For example, I bake mini chocolate chip-toffee cookies at 500 degrees F for only 4 minutes. Perfect end result.

Jim Lahey

3. Store spices in a cool, dark place, not above your stove. Humidity, light and heat will cause herbs and spices to lose their flavor.

Rick Tramonto

4. Use a coarse microplane to shave vegetables into salads or vinaigrettes. You can create an orange-fennel dressing by adding grated fennel and orange zest to a simple vinaigrette.

Paul Kahan

5. Always make stock in a large quantity and freeze it in plastic bags. That way, when you want to make a nice soup or boil veggies, you can simply pull the bag out of the freezer.

Charlie Trotter

6. If you're cooking for someone important — whether it's your boss or a date — never try a new recipe and a new ingredient at the same time.

Marcus Samuelsson

7. Cook pasta 1 minute less than the package instructions and cook it the rest of the way in the pan with sauce.

Mario Batali

8. After making eggs sunny-side up, deglaze the pan with sherry vinegar, then drizzle the sauce on the eggs to add another dimension to the dish.

Didier Elena

9. After working with garlic, rub your hands vigorously on your stainless steel sink for 30 seconds before washing them. It will remove the odor.

Breast-feeding is a natural and wonderful experience for new moms and it is also a wonderful part of parenting. Many parents are scared when they get ready to breast-feed their baby.

Don't give up! There are a lot of ways to help your baby latch onto your nipple.

If you are a first time mother, don't get frustrated when breast feeding because it is not an easy task at first, though, here are some helpful tips to get you started.

Many mothers get sad when they can't get their baby to breast feed. If you want use a damp warm towel and place it over your breast before breast-feeding your baby. This will warm up your breast.

The first thing you need to do is relax. Before you pick up your baby, take a few deep breaths, and count to ten. Getting comfortable is key to stimulating your milk reflex. If you need a longer time then ten minutes go ahead and take the time to do so.

It wouldn't be a good idea to be stressed when you are about to feed your baby, so relax. Relaxing is also important when you are about to go to sleep after the baby has been crying for so long.

Try yoga, deep breathing, and calming music.

The second step would be for you to bring your baby close to your chest. While you baby is close to your chest, take another set of deep breaths.

After you do this, support your baby by placing your hand right behind his or her neck and head to support the head.

Be very gentle with your child's head. Be incredibly gentle, because if you have a new born, the head could be very sensitive because of birth.

The third step is to support your breast. Do this by using one hand. While holding your breast, rub your baby's face gently (calm him or her) with your hand or nipple.

This will make your baby go towards the nipple. Keep rubbing your baby's face so that he or she feels comfortable.

This will pay off when your baby is latched on to your nipple!

The fourth thing you need to do is direct your nipple upwards.

Make sure that your nipple is pointing upwards, as if it was pointing at your child's forward. This will give a great position for your baby to latch on comfortably.

This is important because it will position your nipple towards the baby's mouth.

Your almost there!

The fifth thing you need to do it to make sure your baby's lips are puckering outwards, rather than inwards. If your baby is puckering inwards, gently re-adjust your baby with your finger.

Unlatch your baby only if they are latched onto your nipple incorrectly. Do this by gently placing your finger at the corner of your baby's mouth and re-adjusting him or her.

Your baby should be latched on nice and snug right now!

Once latched on...

Make sure that your baby's nose isn't covered by your top breast, and make sure that your baby's nose is free from boogies.

Find a comfortable chair!

Gather a few pillows/nursing pillow on your lap and lay your baby across your lap. Hold your baby at a position where his or her feet are extended to the side of your body, instead of across your body.

The position will seem as if your tucking your baby under your arm.

Place your hand behind your babies neck and shoulders to support your baby.

Then you need to latch your baby onto your nipple by pulling him or her towards your breast. Do not force your baby to breast-feed. It could also help your baby also listened to calming music while you breast feed.

If you listen to the same type of calming music during breast feeding your baby will know when its time to eat when they hear the sounds.

If you want to try breast feeding lying down, you can do this on one side by placing your bottom arm over your head. You can also lay on your side with your supporting arm holding your head.

Try different positions so that you and your baby get comfortable with each other.

Then you can also feed your baby tummy-to-tummy. Lay your baby down facing you. Bring your baby close and re-approach the latching step. Position your breast accordingly and draw him or her closely.

This will let you and your baby rest will breast feeding, and sometimes a mother needs a little rest.

If you lay your baby on your bed to take a nap make sure to take everything off the bed, except for the bottom sheet and your baby blanket.

Make sure to never fall asleep on your baby, especially near a couch cushion! There are gaps between the cushions that could suffocate your baby.

If you want to take a nap next to your baby get rid of heavy pillows, comforters, and other things that could suffocate your baby.

Never sleep with your baby girl or baby boy if you or your significant other smokes!

Total Time: 2 hr 15 min Prep: 5 min Inactive: 10 min Cook: 2 hr
Yield: 10 to 12 cups popcorn (6 gifts in shakers) Level: Easy
Ingredients
Directions

Special equipment: a spice grinder

Position an oven rack in the bottom of the oven, and preheat it to 200 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with parchment, and generously coat with cooking spray. Spread the tomato paste out into a thin layer on the parchment (an offset metal spatula works best). Bake until the paste deepens to brick red and is dull in color and not shiny in any spots, about 2 hours. (It will look and feel like fruit leather.) Let it cool. Tear the paste into small pieces, and finely grind them in batches in the spice grinder.

Add all the ground tomato paste back into the spice grinder, along with the Parmesan, oregano, garlic salt and pepper flakes, and grind to a fine powder. Store in an airtight container for up to 5 days. The spice blend makes enough for about 6 batches of popcorn.

To make 1 batch of pizza popcorn: Heat 1/2 tablespoon olive or vegetable oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add 1/2 cup kernels; when one pops, cover the pot, and cook, shaking the pot constantly, until the popping subsides to 1 pop every 20 seconds. Add some melted butter and 2 heaping tablespoons of pizza spice, toss to coat.
